Vietnam Democracy Radio

An introduction

Vietnam Democracy Radio (VDR or Radio Dap Loi Song Nui) is one of the activities of the Foundation for Democracy of Vietnam (FFDV).

VDR broadcasts daily to Vietnam on the frequency of former BBC Vietnamese program (1503 kHz medium wave). It is popular inside Vietnam, and   strongly supported by the Vietnamese Diaspora across the continents. VDR broadcasts are also relayed by several local broadcasters in America and   Australia to local Vietnamese expatriates.

The FFDV has leased the above medium wave frequencies from Radio Taiwan International (RTI) and operated since May 2011, alongside the BBC,   VOA, RFI and others. However, recently, we have been informed that due to budgetary constraint by the government of the Republic of China   (Taiwan), the above medium wave frequency will be no longer operational from March 2018.

We are determined to broadcast on-air as well as via other internet means, Youtube, Facebook etc…and have been offered short wave alternatives   by RTI and others. The board of the FFDV will meet and make a decision in due course.

VDR, whose managing director is Mr. Dien Do, is a constituent organ of the FFDV and operates within the confines of the FFDV’s mission statement.   As such, its socio-political platform covers the following areas of activities:
