Brief introduction to The Red Peril
A documentary film on the real face of the Communist Party of Vietnam
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) was officially founded in 1930 by Ho Chi Minh, in the Bolshevik Marxist- Leninist tradition, taking power and maintaining power through the use of violence and terror. They have been successful in ruling North Vietnam since 1954 and the whole of Vietnam since 1975, after having defeated the government of the Republic of Vietnam and its ally the USA in South Vietnam.
Since then, about 3 million Vietnamese refugees have fled the Communist scourge and taken refuge in America, Canada, Europe, Australia and other democratic nations.
However, the Vietnamese people, despite the harshness of the totalitarian communist regime, have never given up hope to restore freedom and build democracy in their country.
) has completed a documentary film entitled The Red Peril, the true face of the Communist Party of Vietnam, first in the Vietnamese language, then the Together with other projects and partly in response to this legitimate aspiration, the Foundation for Democracy of Vietnam (FFDVFFDV intends to finalize an English Version in the early part of 2018.
This documentary has been the result of years of research on historical documentation, interview of well-known dissidents both outside and inside of Vietnam, with a view to shed truths on the nature of the regime so as to awaken popular awareness of atrocities by the regime and effect a peaceful transition to democracy in Vietnam.
One of the highlights of this documentary is the interview of witnesses who have lived through Communist purgatory such as Musician Tô Hải a former member of the Communist Party in the 1940’s, Colonel Bui Tin a well-known dissident living in exile in France, former Republic of Vietnam ambassador Bùi Diễm, senior lawyer Trần Thanh Hiệp sentenced by the Vietnamese Communists to execution, Nguyễn Minh Cần, a high ranking communist officer, Mr Pham Mien a victim of land reform now residing in the state of South Carolina, Mrs Phan Thi Quyen, another victim of land reform whose mother was hanged and whose father-in-law was executed, Mr Trần Tiễn San, whose father Senator Trần Điền, a well known leader of the Vietnamese Boy Scouts was killed by the communists during the Têt Offensive, Mrs Nguyen Thi Cam whose her relatives were murdered by the communists during the Têt Offensive and the Most Venerable Thích Huyền Việt, Vice-Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese United Buddhist Congregation, a live witness of Communist atrocities.
These accounts by live witnesses, if unrecorded, could be forever lost to history after their death. Thus, through this documentary, their memories will live in the hearts of posterity.
